Dear one, it is possible to recover from stress-related fatigue, chronic pain, brain fog, digestive issues, and insomnia. This is not a pie-in-the-sky promise. It’s neuroscience and a complete sea change from what we’ve been taught. 

 

Most treatments for stress-related symptoms fail because they’re based on a false premise that you’re sick and broken. It’s simply not true. 

 

We feel fatigue and pain in the body, sometimes intensely. But the cause of mind-body chronic symptoms is in the brain, which gets activated from repressed emotions, stress and trauma.

New science shows the brain can create pain, fatigue and many other symptoms, even without an injury or illness, or long after it has healed.

Thanks to neuroplasticity, we can unlearn these patterns and recover from conditions we were told to manage forever—conditions like Long Covid, ME/CFS, Fibromyalgia, headaches, insomnia, irritable bowel syndrome, anxiety and body pain.

I was a healthy TV news reporter in a major American city when I suffered a trauma and fell mysteriously ill. So ill, I couldn’t get out of bed or leave my house much.

The diagnosis was Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS), as well as Epstein-Barr Syndrome, Chronic Lyme and many others. Like a dogged journalist, I sought the best western and eastern medicine. I did psychotherapy and trauma counseling. I chased every panacea imaginable over 13 long years, only to be dashed. Until, I let go of the struggle.

Yoga, meditation, creativity and nature sustained me. From this state of acceptance, I experienced a breakthrough. It wasn’t viruses like Epstein-Barr or malfunctioning mitochondria causing my CFS, as doctors had told me. It was the way I’d unknowingly repressed stressful events and emotions.

My brain had learned to create fatigue and pain to protect me. But I no longer needed to be protected. With a new understanding, healing began.
